Introduction to Cirencester College
Cirencester College is a nationally recognised College having been awarded Beacon Status and graded as ‘outstanding’ by OfSted. In addition, they are the only College in the country to have been recognised as a Centre of Vocational Excellence in the Financial Services area – this means that they are well placed to develop vocational provision for meeting the skills needs of employers in Gloucestershire.
Jim Grant is an Assistant Principal in the Humanities Faculty, who plays an active role in the development of the Heritage Academy based at the College and is the force behind the programme development and initiatives to increase the number of Land Based and Heritage courses in the region and to create and encourage a clear progression route into the sector.
With this in mind the College has undertaken a project to research, model and test the potential of using Btecs as a vehicle for APEL or Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning.
