General Documentation

At the end of October 07, the WVLLN management board approved Wiltshire College’s proposal to develop and pilot a part-time Preparation for HE course aimed at students wishing to study on a range of foundation degrees who needed to develop the necessary academic study skills.  The resulting course curriculum and the findings from the pilot programme would be made available to all institutions within the WVLLN.  The tutor notes, teaching preparation and handouts can all be found within this section.

The six-session pilot course ran from May to June 2008 on a one-day-a-week basis.

The course attracted nine adult participants, eight of whom were in full time employment and one unemployed.   All nine candidates successfully completed the programme and progressed onto their chosen HE level courses.

The college is planning to deliver a similar HEFCE-funded programme in 2009 with the aim of attracting a wide mix of students who would benefit from developing their abilities and confidence in relation to HE study skills before progressing onto degree level courses.
